TEQBALL GAME

Teqball is a fast-growing sport that combines elements of soccer and table tennis. It's played on a curved table, where players hit a soccer ball back and forth using any part of their body except their hands. The game can be played in singles (one-on-one) or doubles (two-on-two) formats. Teqball is known for its emphasis on skill, precision, and agility, and it's popular among soccer players for improving ball control and coordination.

Overview of Teqball

Teqball is a relatively new sport, invented in Hungary in 2012 by Gábor Borsányi, Viktor Huszár, and György Gattyán. The game combines aspects of soccer and table tennis, offering a unique and challenging way to improve foot-eye coordination and ball control. It's rapidly gaining popularity worldwide, especially among soccer enthusiasts.

Equipment
1. Teq Table: The game is played on a specially designed, curved table called a "Teq table." The table is similar in size to a table tennis table but has a distinctive curve, which makes the ball bounce unpredictably, adding to the challenge.
2. Ball A standard soccer ball is used, usually a size 4 (which is slightly smaller than the typical size 5 used in professional soccer).

Basic Rules
1. Players Teqball can be played in singles (one-on-one) or doubles (two-on-two).
2. Serving The game starts with a serve, where the ball must bounce on the server’s side before crossing the net. The serve alternates between players every four points.
3. Touches Each player or team has a maximum of three touches to return the ball to the opponent's side, similar to volleyball. The ball can be hit with any part of the body except the hands and arms.
4. Scoring A point is awarded when the opponent fails to return the ball within the allowed three touches, if the ball hits the net and bounces back, or if the ball bounces twice on the opponent's side of the table.
5. Winning the Game A match is typically played to best of three sets. A set is won by the first player or team to reach 12 points with a margin of at least two points.

Key Skills in Teqball
Ball Controw Players must have excellent control over the ball, as the curved table and no-hand rule demand precision.

Agility Quick reflexes and agility are crucial, as the ball can change direction rapidly after bouncing on the curved surface.
Strategy: Like in table tennis, players must strategize to outmaneuver their opponents, making use of the entire table and varying their shots.

Popularity and Competitions
Teqball has gained traction in various countries, with many professional soccer players endorsing the sport as a valuable training tool. The sport is governed by the International Teqball Federation (FITEQ), which organizes global tournaments and promotes the development of the sport. Teqball was even included as a demonstration sport at the Asian Beach Games, showing its potential to become an official sport in future multi-sport events.

The sport's appeal lies in its simplicity, accessibility, and the challenge it presents, making it popular among both professional athletes and recreational players.
